OH...MY...[GASP]! I missed what?

Apparently, because of the new WB show Related, I missed one of the most amazing, jaw-dropping, nail-biting occurances of the 21st century last night. I missed it and actually didn't find out until this morning that (a) the Cardinals are still in the NLCS playoff race, (b) Houston did not win and (c) Albert Puhjols is worth every penny.

Yes, I had control of the TV remote initially, flipping between the Cards/Astros NLCS Game 5 showdown and the Rams/Colts Monday Night Football game until Kels talked me into watching Related. How could I resist? A family of cute girls, all with life issues -- I mean it is exactly what I needed. :P . Sometimes a man's just got to know when he should give up...

So, this morning -- astounded -- I heard the news. Bottom of the ninth, 2-out, 2-strikes, 2 men on base, Albert Puhjols slams a pitch from Brad Lidge and wins the game 5-4. Simply amazing! My dad must be doing cartwheels today...

GO CARDS!

The Ice Dogs Falleth...

We finished the year in first place, a fair distance ahead of the rest of the teams in our league, but one team just wanted it worse than us -- the Skateful Dead -- and they did it in style. They won game one of the championship round 5-4 and took the second game in a stunning overtime win 3-2.

I must admit, we had a lot of chances to put game two away, but the Dead's goaltender shut us down more often than not. We even squandered a 2-0 lead going into the third period of game two...we just couldn't finish. Defensive mistakes, tired players and a little bit of over-confidence cost us the title.

Nevertheless, the season was great. We finished 16-4 in the regular season, and second overall. I personally had a great season, with 11 goals and 9 assists in the regular season, and 2 goals 2 assists in the playoffs. I can't wait for the next session, although I'll enjoy the time off to recouperate, heal up my knee which has been acting up again and just enjoy having my Sunday nights back for a little bit. Go Dogs!
